IIT Bombay is recognized worldwide as a leader in the field of engineering education and research. Mood Indigo – the annual cultural festival of IIT Bombay, renowned to be Asia’s Largest College Cultural Festival – is presently in its 50th edition. Mood Indigo is widely considered as the hotbed of budding talent and the biggest meeting ground for over 1,46,000 students. This year they planned to put together, world record of “Maximum number of people making paper cranes together (virtually)” and we are pleased to announce that on 20th Dec 2020, 100s of students from Delhi Public School Mysore took part in this programme and aided them in making the world record. Students were also provided with the e-certificate from ‘IIT Bombay’ for their contribution and enthusiasm.

The idea of making paper cranes has its reference to the famous Japanese Fable ‘Sadako and the Thousand Paper cranes” about making 1000 paper cranes as a prayer to heal from diseases.

The aim of this activity was to light candles of hope across the nation in difficult times like these. The cranes are our cry, our prayer for those who have lost their lives to the pandemic. We will create these cranes in a hope that things will get better and there will be peace.
